WHO: Federal Highway Administration Administrator Victor M. Mendez, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Chief Deputy Director Malcolm Dougherty and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders will be joined by other state and local officials.
WHAT: A groundbreaking celebration for the next stage of construction on State Route 905.
This $20.2 million portion of the project is funded by the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
WHEN: Tuesday, April 5, starting at 10 a.m.
WHERE: The event will take place adjacent to San Ysidro High School in Otay Mesa. (Thomas Guide Page 1351, A-2).
Directions: Take southbound I-5 or I-805 to eastbound SR-905. Turn right onto Caliente Avenue, then a right onto Airway Road. Flaggers will assist guests onto the event site on the left.
Alternate directions: Take southbound SR-125 (South Bay Expressway) to SR-905. At the signal turn right onto Otay Mesa Road/SR-905, then left on Caliente Avenue, then a right onto Airway Road. Please note that motorists using SR-125 will be assessed a toll.
PHOTO/VIDEO OPPORTUNITY: Mendez will be among the event’s featured speakers and will unveil the roadway finding sign for this ARRA project. Display boards and fact sheets will be available.
