New Traffic Signal at West Mission Bay Drive
SAN DIEGO – Beginning next week all vehicles traveling on southbound West Mission Bay Drive to eastbound Interstate 8 will be required to stop at the new signalized intersection, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The new traffic signal is part of an overall safety project at the intersection that modified the median island, upgraded the overhead traffic signs, and re-constructed the pedestrian ramps to American with Disability Act safety standards.
This safety project eliminates the free right-hand turn lane for motorists traveling on the far right lane. Caltrans is placing temporary Changeable Messages Signs in advance on the intersection to alert motorists. In addition, the permanent flashing beacon sign that notifies motorists of the upcoming signalize intersection has been upgraded.
For additional information contact the Caltrans Public at (619) 688-6670.
