SAN DIEGO – By the end of November, weather permitting, the South Segment of the Interstate 15 (I-15) Express Lanes Project will be fully opened to the public. This eight-mile stretch of freeway from State Route 163 (SR-163) to State Route 56 (SR-56) is completing one year ahead of schedule and on budget.
Starting Thursday, Nov. 10, and continuing through November, the remaining locations to be opened are:
- Express Lanes southbound exit just south of I-15/SR-163 split;
- Express Lanes northbound entrance just south of I-15/SR-163 split;
- Northbound Express Lanes exit just south of Miramar Way;
- Southbound Express Lanes entrance just south of Miramar Road.
The entire I-15 Express Lanes Project, from SR-163 to State Route 78, will be completed in winter 2011/2012. The $1.3 billion dollar project constructed innovative Express Lanes that are open for free to carpools, vanpools, busses, motorcycles, designated low-emission vehicles and fee-paying single motorists.
