Two New Express Lanes Entrances to Open on Interstate 15 between SR 163 and SR 56

SAN DIEGO – Additional Interstate 15 (I-15) northbound and southbound Express Lanes entrances and exits will open this week, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). They will give Express Lane users more flexibility in using the system.

A southbound Express Lanes entrance and exit just south of Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard and a northbound entrance north of Mira Mesa Boulevard will both be available for motorists.

The new entrance and exit just south of Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard will be available to southbound I-15 drivers. Drivers who enter the I-15 from Carmel Mountain Road, Camino del Norte, Bernardo Center Drive and farther north can access the entrance, while motorists can exit there to access Mira Mesa Boulevard and destinations farther south.

The new Express Lanes entrance north of Mira Mesa Boulevard is for I-15 northbound drivers and will be available for motorists who enter the I-15 from Carroll Canyon Road, Miramar Road/Pomerado Road or farther south.

Additional Express Lanes entrances and exits are expected to follow this week’s openings. Once they do, it will mark the completion of the South Segment of the I-15 Express Lanes project, which runs from State Route 163 (SR 163) to State Route 56 (SR 56).

The work is being completed a full year ahead of schedule.

Work continues on the North Segment of the I-15 Express Lanes project from Centre City Parkway to State Route 78 (SR 78). When the project is complete at the end of 2011, motorists will have 20 miles of 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week Express Lanes.

For more information on these new entrances or the entire I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
