Two Temporary Weekend Closures Along State Route 76
SAN DIEGO – Traffic along State Route 76 (SR-76) will be temporally re-routed this weekend between East Vista Way and Olive Hill Road/Camino Del Rey, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Motorists will be detoured for the following temporary closures:
Closure #1: North River Road at SR-76
WHEN: 8 p.m. Friday, August 12 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15
LOCAL DETOUR: Use Olive Hill Road/Morro Hills Road/Sleeping Indian Road or use College Boulevard/Vandegrift Boulevard.
Closure #2: SR-76 between E. Vista Way and Olive Hill Road
WHEN: 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15
LOCAL DETOUR: Use Old River Road
REGIONAL DETOUR: Use E. Vista Way/Gopher Canyon Road for I-15 or SR-76 West
For Via Montellano residents only during the full freeway closure, a “residential” red card will need to be presented to the California Highway Patrol Officer at Olive Hill Road to access your home between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. To request residential passes, contact the Caltrans Construction Office at (760) 639-4430 or stop by 3485 East Vista Way, Vista, CA 92084.
Traffic detour signs will be posted along these routes. For the safety of the motorists and the safety of the crews, please remember to always “slow for the cone zone.”
Construction for SR-76 Middle Segment began in early 2010 and is targeted for completion in late 2012. Costing approximately $171.4 million, this two-lane highway will be widened and realigned to four lanes between Melrose Drive and South Mission Road. Once constructed, the project will reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety for SR-76 travelers.
