Night Work on I-5 in the South Bay
SAN DIEGO – Several on- and off-ramps along Interstate 5 (I-5) in the South Bay will be closed nightly beginning Sunday. Construction crews will be working on various ramps in both directions from just north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry to 24th Street in National City, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The project also includes the closure of the connector ramps at State Routes 905 and 54. Crews will be working nightly through Thursday between the hours of 7 p.m.. and 5 a.m.
Consecutive off-ramps on northbound and southbound Interstate 5 within project limits may be closed. Crews will place a Changeable Message Sign in advance of these closures.
Motorists encountering a closed on- or off-ramp will be detoured on the freeway to the next immediate ramp then turned around back to their desired direction.
Construction crews will be doing pavement work to extend the life of the pavement. For additional information contact the Caltrans Public Information Office at (619) 688-6670.
