Caltrans and FHWA announce option that will offer the North Coast Corridor appropriate balance of benefits and costs to the environment and community
WHAT: Locally Preferred Alternative Identified for I‐5 Express Lanes Project
WHO: California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
WHY: Five alternatives were studied in the project's Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
Four were build alternatives, all of which would create a significant improvement over
existing traffic conditions.
Caltrans and the FHWA have determined which alternative best meets the purpose and need of the project; has the least natural resource impacts; requires the fewest property relocations; and has the lowest construction costs.
