Detour Needed for State Route 52 Extension
SAN DIEGO – Motorists traveling on Mission Gorge Road in Santee to southbound State Route 125 (SR-125) will lose one travel lane for a short distance according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Southbound traffic will be directed along the shoulder to the future 52/125 southbound onramp. The detour will go into effect Thursday morning at 5 and will be in place for approximately four weeks.
“We need this short stretch of the on-ramp to complete construction for the SR-52 extension,” said Caltrans Senior Resident Engineer Ed Fitzgibbon.
The work is part of the $477 million Sunny Side Gateway project that will extend SR-52 from SR-125 to SR-67 in Santee. Work on the project began in 2008 and is expected to be complete by March 2011.
