Portions of Hale Avenue and Simpson Way Closed Over Weekend
SAN DIEGO – A portion of eastbound and westbound Hale Avenue will be closed at Interstate 15 (I-15) in Escondido beginning Friday at 7 p.m. and reopening by Monday at 5 a.m., according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Additionally, a small section of Simpson Way at the intersection of Hale Avenue will be temporarily closed during the same timeframe, eliminating access between Simpson Way and Hale Avenue. Simpson Way will be open to local traffic from Andreasen Drive.
Hale Avenue will be closed from Simpson Way on the west side of the freeway to Tulip Street on the east side of the freeway. Motorists traveling westbound on Hale Avenue will be detoured right on Metcalf Street, then left on Mission Avenue, left on Andreasen Drive, and left on Industrial Avenue to reach Hale Avenue. Motorists traveling eastbound on Hale Avenue will be detoured left onto Industrial Avenue, then right on Andreasen Drive, right on Mission Avenue, and right on Washington Street to reach Hale Avenue. Detour signs will be posted to direct motorists.
This weekend’s closures will allow crews to complete underground utility work associated with the I-15 Express Lanes project. Area businesses are encouraged to alert customers and employees in advance of the detours. Caltrans will also make every effort to minimize disruptions to the public during this closure. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
