Southbound Interstate 15 Nighttime Detour Will Use Express Lanes Near Miramar this Friday
SAN DIEGO – Motorists driving southbound on Interstate 15 (I-15) through the Miramar area will take a short detour into the Express Lanes and back onto either I-15 or State Route 163 (SR-163) this Friday night, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Motorists will be detoured off the freeway main lanes into the Express Lanes just south of Miramar Road, and then detoured back to either southbound I-15 or SR-163 just past the I-15/SR-163 split. The detour will be in place Friday night at 10:30 through Saturday morning at 6:30.
The southbound on-ramps from Carroll Canyon Road, Miramar Road/Pomerado Road, and the southbound on- and off-ramps from Miramar Way will also be closed at this time.
Motorists intending to access southbound I-15 or SR-163 from Carroll Canyon Road, Miramar Road/Pomerado Road or Miramar Way will travel west to southbound Black Mountain Road/ Kearny Villa Road to southbound SR-163. Motorists wishing to access I-15 will continue on SR-163 to westbound State Route 52 (SR-52) to south on Convoy Street to eastbound SR-52 to southbound I-15. Motorists wishing to access Miramar Way from I-15 will exit at Miramar Road/Pomerardo Road and travel west to southbound Kearny Villa Road to access Miramar Way. Detour signs will be posted to direct motorists.
These closures are necessary to allow crews to install signs over I-15. Construction will take place over the weekend to minimize impacts to the weekday commute.
