Nighttime Detour on Southbound Interstate 15 Uses Express Lanes Near Miramar This Weekend
SAN DIEGO – Motorists driving southbound on Interstate 15 (I-15) through the Miramar area will take a short detour into the Express Lanes and back onto either I-15 or State Route 163 (SR-163) this Friday and Saturday night, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Motorists will be detoured off the freeway’s main lanes into the Express Lanes using a temporary off-ramp south of Miramar Road, and then back to either southbound I-15 or SR-163 just past the I-15/SR-163 split. The detour will be in place Friday night at 10:30 through Saturday morning at 6:30 and again on Saturday night starting at 10:30 through Sunday morning at 7:30.
The southbound on-ramps from Miramar Road/Pomerado Road, and the southbound on- and off-ramps from Miramar Way will also be closed at this time. Detour signs will be posted to direct motorists.
These closures are necessary to allow crews to install large directional signs over I-15. Construction will take place over the weekends to minimize impacts to the weekday commute. For more information on this closure and its detours, or the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
