Crews Repairing Leaking Pipe on Freeway On-Ramp
SAN DIEGO –
According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), construction crews continue work to replace a damaged drainage pipe under the northbound on-ramp from University Avenue to Interstate 805 (I-805). The work is anticipated to be completed early Sunday morning, Feb. 14.
“At this time there are no cost estimates for this repair,” said Caltrans Media Information Officer Edward Cartagena. “Crews will continue to work around the clock to open this heavily used freeway access point to motorists.”
Approximately 50-feet of corrugated piping will be replaced with concrete pipes. Addition closures are planned in the near future to replace the corrugated pipes beneath the landscaped areas of the northbound I-805 on and off-ramps at University Avenue.
News crews are reminded that they are not permitted to be on-site as construction crews continue to make these necessary repairs.
