Motorists Urged To Avoid Southbound I-15 In Escondido This Morning From 9-Noon
SAN DIEGO ––The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close southbound Interstate 15 in Escondido from Center City Parkway south to El Norte Parkway this morning from 9-noon.
The closure of this one-mile stretch is necessary to accommodate an investigation of possible explosive materials at a residence adjacent to the freeway by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators have warned that they may also need to close the freeway in the northbound direction at that location if it is determined they have to do so for safety reasons. Media questions regarding the investigation are directed to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Motorists traveling southbound on I-15 in this vicinity will be directed off the freeway at Center City Parkway, and follow the city street to where it reconnects with southbound I-15.
