Southbound Interstate 15 Closed At Carroll Canyon Road
SAN DIEGO – All lanes of southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) at the Carroll Canyon Road Bridge are closed after an oversized truck hit the bridge’s construction supports. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during this afternoon’s commute, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The I-15 Express Lanes normally route carpools, vanpools, buses and single drivers who pay a fee in the northbound direction during the afternoon commute, but Caltrans will switch the direction of travel to accommodate all southbound traffic. The residual effect will be increased traffic congestion and possible delays in the northbound direction.
The California Highway Patrol reported that an oversized tractor-trailer truck hit the bridge this afternoon at about 1:30. Crews are on the scene working to repair the bridge, and expect the situation to last through the afternoon commute. In the meantime, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to the county’s northern inland region.
