Interstate 8 Closed Wednesday and Thursday Nights
SAN DIEGO – Highway construction crews will close all eastbound lanes on Interstate 8 between Second Street and Greenfield Drive in El Cajon this Wednesday and Thursday nights. Lane closures will begin at 7 and all lanes will be closed by 10. The freeway will begin to reopen at 6 the following morning with all lanes open by 7, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Detour signs will be placed to guide motorists around the closure.
The work is part of the $9.5 million Reduce the Wait on I-8 Project that is scheduled to be complete in late 2012.
