No Access to Northbound I-15 from Valley Parkway for 16 Days

SAN DIEGO – Motorists in the Escondido area will not have access to northbound Interstate 15 (I-15) from the Valley Parkway on-ramp for 16 days beginning Friday, July 9 at 9 p.m. until Monday, July 26 at 5 a.m. This on-ramp will still remain open for access to eastbound and westbound State Route 78 (SR-78), but a temporary concrete barrier will be in place to prevent traffic from merging into the I-15 northbound main lanes.

Eastbound motorists on Valley Parkway seeking to access northbound I-15 are advised to detour south on Auto Park Way to access the northbound on-ramp at 9th Avenue/Auto Park Way. Westbound motorists on Valley Parkway are advised to detour south on La Terraza Boulevard to west on 9th Avenue to access the northbound on-ramp at 9th Avenue/Auto Park Way.  Motorists using the Valley Parkway northbound on-ramp will be detoured to east on SR-78 to north on Centre City Parkway to west on SR-78 to northbound I-15.  All detours will be signed to direct motorists.

This closure is needed to finish paving work on the outside of northbound I-15.  This is the last planned extended ramp closure in a series of ramp closures that began in April in the Escondido area. Once this paving is completed, construction will begin on the new Express Lanes in the median of I-15.

Stay informed by going online to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com for more information and detailed detour instructions. Planning alternate routes during this closure may help save you time and avoid frustration. If you do travel in the area, follow detour signs and expect short delays. For more information on the closures listed or about the I-15 Express Lanes project, please call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397.
