Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles County serves many purposes. It Is a scenic route running along the ocean and, as such, an attractive road for bicyclists; it is the primary access road for residents of adjacent canyons; and it is an important north/south route for commuters between West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. It is therefore extremely vital that it be maintained for optimal functionality.

The HOV lanes will extend for 6.2 miles in each direction and will be the first on Interstate 5 in Los Angeles County. Lane and ramp closures will take place throughout construction, mostly overnight. These closures will involve freeway connectors to and from Interstate 5 at the Foothill Freeway (SR-210), the San Diego Freeway (I-405), the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) and the Simi Valley Freeway (SR-118). Signs and detours will be posted to assist motorists.

Route Shield Route 101 EA(1199u)
U.S.101 serves as an interregional/commuter travel highway. Major traffic generated along this segment of U.S. 101 is a result of motorists coming to and from the City of Los Angeles and trucks destined for the industrial businesses located south of US-101. This project was initiated to address congestion and operational problems on this stretch of the freeway and to accommodate the Metro Gold Line.

The new on-ramp construction is located in the Media District in the City of Burbank, which is expected to grow significantly. The increase in traffic accompanying the growth will contribute to an increase in usage of the Hollywood Way on- and off-ramps. Burbank has identified these improvements as vital to the economic growth of the region.

District 7 has developed a 10-year master plan to relieve traffic congestion through the use of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS). The installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras are part of county-wide system that uses technology to monitor freeway traffic conditions, to collect and disseminate traffic information and to detect and reduce congestion.

Route Shield Route 710 EA(18311)
This is the second phase of the I-710 Rehabilitation Project; phase one was the Long Life Pavement Stratergy from State Route 1 (SR-1) to the San Diego Freeway (I-405)that was completed December 2004. This current phase of the project is a continuation and will take place from I-405 to Firestone Boulevard. Another phase of pavement rehabilitation on I-710 from Firestone Boulevard to the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) began in 2005, with a 2009 anticipated completion date.
