Chief Deputy District Director, District 7

As Chief Deputy District Director, Lindy K. Lee develops and implements policy and oversees the efficient operation of District 7. Charged with planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the state highway system in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, District 7 contains approximately 1,200 highway and freeway miles and employs the second largest workforce of the twelve Caltrans statewide districts.

Prior to appointment as Chief Deputy District Director for District 7, Lee managed the Right of Way division for the North Region. Supervising a staff of 130, she managed all Right of Way operations for Districts 1, 2, and 3. From managing the appraisal and acquisition of real property interests on complex multi-modal projects, developing and improving Right of Way policies, performing oversight for Local Agency transportation projects, and representing the Division to elected officials, other public agencies and those in the private sector; Lee led the delivery of programmed projects on-time and in compliance with federal and state regulation.

Lee began her State career in 1983, with District 7. Over the next twenty-nine years, she developed a comprehensive understanding of the project delivery process by working in Districts 1, 2, 3, 8, 11, and Caltrans Headquarters. From Eureka to San Diego, Lee’s leadership and expertise in strategic planning has put sound transportation projects to pavement.

Lee holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from California State University, Pomona- one in Finance and Real Estate, and the other in Hotel/Restaurant Management and Marketing. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
