Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Geographic Information Systems are used within Transportation Planning and District 5 in general to manage data and perform mapping tasks.
GIS Data
The Caltrans Office of GIS maintains a listing of available GIS data. These data cannot be downloaded from the web site, but they can be requested from the District 5 GIS Coordinator (see Contact below).
Our two most commonly requested GIS datasets (State Highways and Postmiles) can be downloaded from this page. Format choices are Shapefiles or File Geodatabase:
- File Geodatabase (Zip file, 16MB)
- Shapefile (Zip file, 21MB )
