Local Assistance Calendar of Program Events and Deadlines*

The following funding programs are active throughout the year at various times. When there is a call for projects; announcement letters are sent to the Public Works Directors of all our agencies (cities and counties) in District 5. In addition, the announcements will be posted on this page, and on the Local Programs website.

  • Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA)
  • Safe Routes to School (SRTS)
  • High Risk Rural Roads (HR3)
  • Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP)

May SRTS The Federal-legislated Safe Routes to School (Cycle 2) call for projects was announced April 25, 2008; Applications are due on July 18, 2008. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/LocalPrograms/saferoutes/saferoutes.htm
Sept BTA The Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) provides state funds for city and county projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters.
