Caltrans representative will provide information on how the State of California contracting programs work. A representative from High Speed Rail will discuss contracting with HSR. There will be an overview of SBA’s various contracting programs including the 8(a) Program and HUBZone Program along with contracting information for women-owned and veteran-owned businesses. The SBA Surety Bond Guarantee Program will also be discussed at the workshop.

Sharri Bender Ehlert was appointed District 6 Director in 2012. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of Planning, Project Management and Traffic Engineering to the position. Prior to her appointment, Sharri held the position as the Deputy District Director for Planning and Local Programs in District 6.
Sharri has worked for the California Department of Transportation (Department) for over 21 years. She came to the Department in 1988 as a Junior Civil Engineer in District 4, focusing her efforts on Highway Operations and Traffic Engineering. In 1990, she left State service and worked for a transportation consultant firm. She returned to the Department in 1997 and was later promoted to Senior Transportation Engineer in 2000. Her previous assignments include Acting Central Regional Environmental Division Chief, Project Manager, and Office Chief for Travel Demand Modeling and Forecasting.
Sharri is a native Californian having grown up in Bakersfield. She is a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
