State Route 78 at Glamis Closed 24 Hours Beginning Thursday
SAN DIEGO——Caltrans crews will close a 400-foot section of State Route 78 (SR-78) just east of State Route 115 (SR-115) in Glamis for 24 hours beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. The full closure is needed to remove a bump on the roadway at the abandoned railroad.
Local traffic may access SR-78 up to either side of the construction zone; however, through traffic will be detoured as follows:
- Eastbound SR 78 Detour: Turn right onto southbound State Route 115 (SR-115). Turn left onto Gonder Road east. Turn left onto Butters Road north. Turn right onto eastbound SR-78.
- Westbound SR-78 Detour: Turn left onto Butters Road south. Turn right onto Gonder Road west. Turn right onto northbound SR-115 and merge onto westbound SR-78.
Traffic volumes are typically light at this location and no significant delays are expected.
Caltrans reminds drivers to “Be Work Zone Alert” and to slow when nearing highway work zones.
