Major Construction Begins on SR-76 Valley Center Road Roundabout
SAN DIEGO——Caltrans construction crews have begun work on the State Route 76 Valley Center Road Intersection Improvement Project. The preliminary work includes installing temporary fencing and clearing brush.
Motorists can expect periodic lane closures to take place once roadway work begins. The first lane closure is expected to take place in about two weeks and will occur overnight with one lane closed and one-way traffic control in place. The initial closure will allow crews to place temporary concrete barriers. Caltrans will provide advance notice of planned closures on the Caltrans District 11 website at http://www.dot.ca.gov/d11/news/.
The $15.5 million State Route 76 Valley Center Road Intersection Improvement Project will replace the existing three-leg intersection with a modern roundabout and realign the curves just east of the intersection. The new alignment will increase sight distance for vehicles approaching from the west. Other features include sidewalks, a new bus pull-out and landscaping.
Major construction project fact sheets are available online at www.dot.ca.gov/d11/projects.
