JUNE LAKE — Caltrans has reopened State Route 158 S (South June Lake Loop) between North Shore Drive and the town of June Lake following emergency repairs. The highway initially closed on January 2 to repair cracks in the pavement and consolidate the embankment and water infiltration system away from the rock face.

The repairs were estimated to take two weeks, but Conspec Inc., the Lee Vining-based contractor that was issued the emergency work order for this project, managed to finish the job in eight days.

With the repairs complete, State Route 158 (June Lake Loop) is fully open to vehicle traffic. However, drivers may encounter temporary snow closures and chain control restrictions on the highway as we continue to move through the winter months. All drivers are encouraged to visit QuickMap.dot.ca.gov or download the QuckMap App to your iOS or Android device before leaving home to get the latest information on highway conditions.
