Spring Pass Clearing Update #2 Sonora Pass (State Route 108)

Published:

TUOLUMNE COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be relocating the State Route 108/Sonora Pass closure gate out to Kennedy Meadows as of 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The Caltrans Longbarn Maintenance Crew has continued to make good progress clearing Sonora Pass this season. During the past week maintenance crews were able to clear approximately 10 miles of State Route 108 to re-open Sonora Pass out to Kennedy Meadows in time for trout season.

State Route 108/Sonora Pass will remain closed to eastbound traffic at the Kennedy Meadows closure gate while crews continue clearing the pass out to Leavitt Meadows. While Caltrans cannot specify the exact date Sonora Pass will formally reopen to traffic for the season, we will however be providing weekly pass clearing updates to the public.
