Welcome to the Division of Budgets

The Division of Budgets develops, monitors, and manages the Department's annual budget. The budget provides funding to construct, operate, and maintain a comprehensive transportation system of more than 15,200 miles of highways and freeways and provides intercity rail passenger services. We develop the fund estimate for the State Transportation Improvement Program. We also represent the Department on all financial matters with the Department of Finance, the Legislative Analyst's Office, other State Departments, local and regional transportation agencies, and the Federal Highways Administration.

  • Provide a quality work environment
  • Ensure transportation improvements and services ready to go will be funded
  • Manage through program based budgeting

  • Ensure fiscal integrity of the Department
