State Route 37 Pavement Project

Caltrans will begin work on Eastbound State Route 37 (SR-37). EB SR-37 will be closed, and motorist detoured beginning at the SR-37/SR-121 interchange near Sears point (Sonoma County). The Eastbound closures will be 55 hours, starting Friday, May 17 10:00 P.M. to Monday, May 20 at 5:00 A.M. 

During the 55-hour weekend full highway closure, Caltrans will perform major pavement repair work on eastbound SR-37 between Solano and Sonoma counties. One traffic direction on SR-37 will be worked on at a time. Detours on eastbound SR-37 will be in effect. Westbound SR-37 will remain open at all times.

Eastbound State Route 37 Detour

Motorists traveling eastbound on SR-37 will need to exit left onto northbound SR-121 in Sonoma; Make a right on SR-12/SR-121(Carneros Hwy) and continue; Right on SR-12/SR-29; Enter left for the connector loop Off-ramp back to EB SR-37.

During eastbound SR-37 closures, motorists traveling eastbound on SR-37 will need to:

1. exit left onto northbound SR-121 in Sonoma
2. Make a right on SR-12/SR-121(Carneros Hwy) and continue
3. Right on SR-12/SR-29. Enter left for the connector loop Off-ramp back to EB SR-37

For Week Starting Monday, May 20, 2024

Alternating overnight full highway closure on Westbound and Eastbound SR-37
Starts Monday, May 20, 2024, at 9:00 PM

Once the weekend paving work is completed, Caltrans has scheduled alternating full overnight weekday closures on both Westbound and Eastbound State Route 37 to paint new lane lines on the newly paved roadway. This work is called striping work.

To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, Caltrans will need to fully close Westbound and Eastbound lanes on alternating nights. However, one traffic direction of SR-37 will remain open while work is performed on the opposite traffic direction.

Westbound SR-37 between the SR-37/SR-29 interchange in Vallejo and the SR-37/SR-121 interchange in Sonoma County is scheduled to be closed Monday, May 20 at 9:00 PM until Tuesday, May 21 at 4:00 AM.

Westbound SR-37 will also be closed Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00 PM until Wednesday, May 22 at 4:00 AM. Eastbound SR-37 will remain open.

Eastbound SR-37 between the SR-37/SR-121 interchange in Sonoma County and the SR-37/SR-29 interchange in Vallejo will be closed Wednesday, May 22 at 8:00 PM until Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 5:30 AM.

Eastbound SR-37 will also be closed Thursday May 23 at 9:00 PM until Friday, May 24 at 4:00 AM. Westbound SR-37 will remain open.

Westbound SR-37 DETOUR:

During Westbound SR-37 closures, motorists traveling westbound on SR-37 will need to:

1. exit right onto northbound SR-29 (Sonoma Blvd) in Vallejo
2. continue on NB SR-29 (Broadway) to SR-29/SR-12
3. turn left and continue on SR-12/SR-121 (Carneros Hwy/Fremont Dr.)
4. turn left on SR-121 (Arnold Dr.)
5. Turn right back on WB SR-37

Eastbound SR-37 DETOUR:

During eastbound SR-37 closures, motorists traveling eastbound on SR-37 will need to:

1. exit left onto northbound SR-121 in Sonoma;
2. Make a right on SR-12/SR-121(Carneros Hwy) and continue;
3. Right on SR-12/SR-29; Enter left for the connector loop Off-ramp back to EB SR-37.

Why The Work is Needed

These full weekend closures are necessary for worker and public safety. Caltrans will perform major pavement repair on the traffic lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions of SR-37. The roadway has become worn and in need of repairs due to of high traffic use.

Closing SR-37 During Weekends is a Safer Alternative to 30 Days of Nightly Closures for Workers' and Motorists' Safety

These closures will allow for asphalt pavement in eastbound and westbound traffic lanes to be replaced. These closures will shorten the duration of the project by 30 nights providing improved safety and better ride quality to the public.
