*******299 CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS****Summer several safety-curve realignment and paving projects are in construction on State Route 299 between Redding and Arcata. Please be advised maximum delays could reach 2 hours, 15 minutes.

299W/CAPSTONE: Crews are working on the sixth phase of the Buckhorn Grade Safety Improvement project (Capstone) on State Route 299 between Redding and Weaverville. One way traffic control is in place Mon-Saturday from 3:00am-3:00 p.m. Motorists should expect maximum delays of up to one hour. Average delays are about 45 minutes.

299W/Junction City-Industrial Parkway: Construction will begin on the Weaverville Pavement project Monday, October 5, 2015. Curb ramp work will take place the first week, followed by preliminary pavement work on Monday, October 12, 2015. One-way traffic control with a pilot car and flaggers will be in place from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Delays are expected to be 12-15 mins. Preliminary work is expected to last until mid-November. Paving will take place Spring 2016.

299 W/ENCHILADA CURVE IMPROVEMENT: Safety improvements are being made on the curve 0.5 mile east of Humboldt/Trinity County line to 0.1 mile west of Salyer. One way traffic control will be in effect between 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

299 W/OLD SHASTA: The Shasta ADA project is removing obstructions and barriers for pedestrians. One-way traffic control is in effect Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m just west of Mackley Alley to Red Bluff Road in the eastbound direction. Expected delays: 12-20 mins. Work is expected to continue through November.


Caltrans will close the South Main St. on/off ramps on southbound Interstate 5 in Red Bluff on Monday, October 12,2015 through Wednesday, October 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for construction. On Thursday, October 15, 2015, both on/off ramps will be under 24 HOUR CLOSURE from 6:00 p.m until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19,2015. Detours will be available.


Both the north and southbound Safety Roadside Rest Areas near Corning are closed during construction. The Rest Areas will be completely remodeled over two construction seasons. The next SRRA in the southbound direction is located just outside Artois in Willows. In the northbound direction the closest SRRA is 4.4 miles north of Red Bluff.


There will be intermittent ramp closures on I-5 both north and southbound ramps for bridge maintenance. All ramps included in the project are marked with an orange square sign with long-term closure dates. All ramps will NOT be closed at once. When a ramp will be closed, motorists will see a portable sign with closure information five days in advance of the scheduled closure. Work will be done from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 a.m.

U.S. 395 in Johnstonville. Crews are paving from 0.1 mile north of Bangham Lane to 0.3 mile south of Wendel Rd. One way traffic control will be in effect Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Delays are currently 15-18 minutes.
